Berbatov Has 6 Months To Save United Career

Alex Ferguson is believed to have told Berbatov to up his performances and earn himself a new contract. The striker began the season in fine form but has gone off the boil since his stunning hat trick against Liverpool in September. He has 18 months remaining on his current deal, meaning United will have to offload him in the summer should they want to cash in on their £30.7m record signing. Fergie is hoping that the return of Wayne Rooney will kick start Berbatov's season saying, “In fairness to Dimitar, we’ve been changing the strike partners quite a lot. Perhaps I’ve changed things too much. Now we have to look for more consistency. I think Dimitar is suited to playing with Wayne. We’ve had some fantastic performances this season and some disappointment.”
