Ray Wilkins Successor Appointed

Chelsea have promoted Michael Emenalo from his position as head opposition scout to assistant first team coach. Speculation was rife as to who would succeed Wilkins, with names such as Paulo Maldini, Gianfranco Zola and Alessandro Costacurta being mentioned. Emenalo who represented Nigeria in USA '94 has been with Chelsea since 2007. The club say his appointment is "recognition of his efforts". It is believed he will continue in his role as a scout while he gains the necessary coaching qualifications.
