Mick McCarthy is attempting to lure Robbie Keane back to his old club Wolverhampton Wanderers with the promise of first team football. Keane who hasn't been able to hold down a starting spot for Spurs since he rejoined from Liverpool has been told by current boss Harry Redknapp that he can leave in January.
The Irish man was a trainee with Wolves before making his debut for the club aged just 17. He went on to score 24 goals in 74 games, attracting a lot of attention along the way. He left Wolves in a £6m deal to Coventry City in 1999 and 11 years later he is again available for £6m.
With Wolves currently in the relegation zone McCarthy and the Wolves fans would love to see Keane link up with his Irish team mate Kevin Doyle. Doyle could play a key role in getting him to the club as they are known to be firm friends off the field.
