England are close to agreeing to play Ireland in a friendly in Dublin on the same day they were due to take on Thailand in Bangkok. FA officials have been in talks with the FAI over returning to the country for the first time since the controversial clash in 1995 which was abandoned after just 27 minutes due to crowd trouble at Lansdowne Road. Ireland were winning the match 1-0 at the time it was abandoned.
