Newcastle United are believed to have offered central defender Steven Taylor an improved contract. With his current deal set to expire in the summer he was placed on the transfer list, much to his displeasure as he always maintained he wanted to stay at St. James' Park. His current deal is worth £40,000 per week with the club maintaining the defender is holding out for closer to £60,000. His representatives are not yet thought to have responded to the new offer.
